This policy explains what data AskEngine collects, how we use it, and your rights. AskEngine is operated by ZeroCrew AI, based in United Kingdom.
What we collect.
- Account data: your name, email, and authentication details, handled via Clerk.
- Product data: the studies, interviews, transcripts, and analysis you create on AskEngine.
- Interview data:when someone you've invited completes an interview, we collect their voice recording, transcript, and any information they share during the conversation.
- Usage data: basic logs and error reports to keep the service running.
- Payment data:processed by Stripe. We don't store full card details.
How we use it.
We use your data to provide AskEngine, analyze interviews on your behalf, improve the service, and communicate with you about your account.
AI processing.
AskEngine uses third-party AI providers — currently ElevenLabs (voice interviews), Anthropic, and OpenAI (analysis and embeddings) — to conduct interviews and surface insights. Data sent to these providers is processed under their respective terms. We use settings that prevent training on your data where available. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Sub-processors.
We use the following providers to run AskEngine, each processing data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments:
- Clerk— authentication and account management
- Convex— application database and backend
- Vercel— web hosting, content delivery, and product analytics
- Cloudflare— DNS, CDN, and R2 object storage (including interview audio)
- ElevenLabs— voice interview infrastructure and conversational AI
- Anthropic— AI analysis of interview content
- OpenAI— AI analysis and embeddings for cross-study pattern detection
- Resend— transactional email delivery
- Stripe— payment processing
- Sentry— error monitoring and debugging
- PostHog— product analytics
We may add or remove sub-processors as the service evolves. The current list is maintained on this page.
Controller and processor.
When you use AskEngine to interview your own users, you are the data controller for that interview data and we act as a processor on your behalf. By accepting our terms, you authorize us to process participant data according to this policy. A formal data processing agreement is available on request.
Security.
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS everywhere), encryption at rest for stored data, access controls on production systems, and use of established sub-processors with their own security certifications. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to follow industry-standard practices.
Data retention.
We keep your data as long as your account is active. You can delete your data at any time from within the product, or by emailing us.
Your rights.
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time. To make a request, email [hello@askengine.dev].
International transfers.
Some of our sub-processors are based outside your country. We rely on standard safeguards for international data transfers where required.
Children.
AskEngine is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes.
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We'll update the date at the top when we do.
